MYSTERY ITEM PROJECT
I was really excited to start this project as it is really a combination of our first and second projects. The main goal for this project is to have a character react to something that appears in their environment. All of the students were given different models, from boats to knives to skulls etc.
ITERATION #1 (BLOCKING)
This was the first iteration I had for this project and it is just the blocking stage for my animation. I think my animation was too long and I think it was too complex which was really hard for me to work on. I had many different beats within this animation and within the amount of time I was given, I think I was over thinking how much time I had for this project. I generally liked the initial blocking to this project and think it was alright.
ITERATION #2
This is my first iteration of the animation without blocking and it turned out super rough. Lots of the actions and movements felt robotic and floaty. Especially the jump and there was not anticipation and my character just floats up. I really had a ton of work on this animation as it was pretty bad in these early stages. I got tons of feedback from my professor which was really helpful for my next iteration.
ITERATION #3
Some of the feedback from my professor is that I should really focus on is the jump. He really wanted me to focus my attention on the jump and the reaction to the mystery item rather than looking for a possession at the beginning of the shot. I think I was able to improve my animation in this shot.
ITERATION #4
I made the most improvement to my animation in this iteration. I still have some small things to work on such as the facial expressions and refining the movement of my character but this is definitely the best iteration I have made. There are still some awkward movements with the arms and legs because of the lack of follow through and anticipation with the animation. I am also nearing the end of this project so I have limited time to work on it.
ITERATION #5
This is the version of the project that I turned in for a grade and I am pretty happy with how it turned out. I know I can definitely fix and refine some of the animation such as the hair and some of the eye movements. I think I could also make the eyebrows along with the eyes seems a little bit more realistic with some movements such as follow through some of the elements. I also want to fix some of the animation on the ears as it looks like they move a little bit too much and they become distracting while watching this shot.
