This was one of my most productive weeks of class since the semester started. I was able to work on multiple iterations of a cloth sim and I have been teaching myself how to use Marvelous Designer. I have learned so much about cutting, sewing, and cloth simulation settings during this week in preparation for the rest of the project.

This first simulation was a struggle as I didn't have the settings down and I didn't understand how to really use Marvelous Designer and the properties to exporting and importing yet. I figured out that I can purposely slow down time when simulating to get better results and this is a life saver.

I took a screenshot of my learning process while figuring out Marvelous Designer. I am really enjoying using Marvelous Designer as the app is easy to use and it does what I want it to do. The learning curve seems fairly simple and the program seems fairly intuitive.

After using Marvelous Designer and learning about how the cloth is actually simulated, this changes how I was planning on animating the character. This means that while we will animate Basil in a dress, she will have to take small steps to not break the dress' simulation and the character will also have to move in a more elegant fashion so we aren't pushing the boundaries of the dress. I am super excited to be testing the cloth sims now so that we won't have too many issues in the future.

My next steps are to create an entire dress & belt for Basil now. I am generally happy with how the skirt came out and I am glad I am able to practice my skills within 3D software. Along with the clothing simulation, I am just waiting on the character model to be finalized. We had some issues with creating the model and the ideas on how we should prep the model for rigging, but we have gotten to a point where I should be able to start rigging in the following week.
